Andrea Alarcón F.,an expert in securities, funds, finance and corporate matters, is a lawyer from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and holds a Master's degree in Finance from the Universidad de Chile. She began her career at Bofill Mir, where she worked for almost 10 years, and now returns to take the lead in new developments in the Capital Markets area.
"I am delighted to return to Bofill Mir, especially at this moment filled with challenges and constant evolution in the financial market. Furthermore, I come with the responsibility of advancing a series of highly challenging projects with the full support of the firm's track record in this field," commented Andrea on her appointment as Bofill Mir's first Director of Capital Markets.
According to Andrea, "the need to intensify efforts is also driven in part by the challenges raised by more thorough oversight by the CMF (Chilean Financial Market Commission) and the new regulations we expect to be issued in this regard." This refers to upcoming developments in related-party transactions and their impact on conflict-of-interest management, as well as risk management regulations affecting a significant portion of the entities supervised by the CMF.
Andrea emphasizes that "the ongoing progress of Fintech regulation remains a constant and is a part of the short-term challenges in the field. This is particularly significant because concrete announcements are imminent. For example, the Fintech Law's Registry of Financial Services Providers will soon come fully into effect. This means that many companies will be subject to the CMF’s supervision and will need to comply with the new obligations and practices prescribed by the regulations, which come with their own set of challenges."
"We are familiar with Andrea's work and experience; she is a top-notch lawyer, an expert in 'hard finances', and someone who made a very positive impact during her first tenure with us. Her leadership will enable us to expand and deepen our practice in supervised entities and financial services, and much more," commented partner Ana María Yuri, regarding Andrea's return to the team.
